Managing the Library’s planning, administration and budget

• Establishing and implementing Library and Information policies and procedures.
• Developing and managing convenient, accessible and cost-effective Library and
  Information Services.
• Ordering materials and services, liaising with the Resources and Operations Teams on ordering and delivery issues.
• Evaluating Library and Information services, technology and media service requirements.
• Preparing regular reports to SLT regarding the Library, related resources and activities.

Providing effective access to library resources and organising library materials

• Developing and maintaining collections management policies and procedures.
• Original and copy cataloguing and classification of print, audio-visual and electronic resources.
• Maintaining an accurate inventory of resources.
• Ensuring there is an efficient retrieval system for users.
• Searching external sources for cataloguing copy.
• Compiling statistics and generating reports on library activities, lending and procurement as required.
• Developing and maintaining cataloguing procedures.
• Processing material for placement on shelves.

Standards and Quality Assurance:

• Maintain familiarity with the overall aims of the National Curriculum of England and Wales at all Key Stages, including social, cultural and political influences on educational practices.
• Train library users to search the library catalogue, Internet and other electronic sources effectively.
• Working with students in individual, small group and classroom settings.
• Encourage students’ general motivation, enthusiasm, and wellbeing by improving research skills and organisation.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ethics and reliability.
• Formulate and implement library operations guided by whole school policies and developments.
• Manage the annual order of resources for the Department, prepare the budget and provide information to the Head Master and Finance Team.
• Liaise with subject teachers over books and resources and ensure that all topics are integrated into the curriculum.
• Liaise with all Key Stages to ensure continuity and progression across library resources for classes as required.
