  In line with this business growth, we are now looking for a Site Manager with passion for leading and developing people with a strong customer centric approach. For our service operations at Oyu Tolgoi Mine site in South Gobi Mongolia.

  Job Summary:

  The Contract Maintenance Site Manager is responsible for leading our Underground maintenance team at the Oyu Tolgoi mine site. This role includes managing all maintenance activities, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment, and meeting contractual obligations. The Site Manager will work closely with Oyu Tolgoi mobile maintenance departments to ensure minimal downtime and high productivity.

  Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Management:
     • Lead, coach, and manage the maintenance team, including supervisors, technicians, and support staff.
     • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
     • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  2. Planning & Scheduling:
     • Oversee the planning and scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
     • Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out efficiently on time and meet/exceed contractual KPIs.
     • Collaborate with the operations team to minimize downtime and disruptions to production.
  3. Budget & Resource Management:
     • Manage the contract budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and meet budget.
     • Support procurement of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts.
     • Monitor and report on maintenance costs, identifying areas for cost savings.
  4. Safety & Compliance:
     • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
     • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
     • Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
  5. Reporting & Documentation:
     • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory.
     • Prepare and submit regular reports on maintenance performance, costs, and issues.
     • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
     • Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
     • Implement best practices in maintenance management.
     • Lead initiatives to reduce downtime and improve the efficiency of maintenance operations.
  7. Stakeholder Management:
     • Liaise with client representatives to ensure satisfaction with maintenance services.
     • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., operations, engineering) to support overall site objectives.
     • Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers.

• Strong foundation in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field) through education or equivalent practical experience.
• +5 years in a senior leadership role from a safety and technology driven large mine maintenance operation preferably underground operation.
• Experience with maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to manage and lead both national and multinational teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective communication across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Mongolian is an advantage.

Working Conditions:

• Either Rotational schedule 4weeks on 2 weeks of or residential in UB with 5/2 working week, sometimes involving extended stays at the mine site.
• Work in a remote and challenging environment with exposure to harsh weather conditions. (underground mine)
• May involve long hours and on-call responsibilities.

Oyu Tolgoi Mine site:

Oyu Tolgoi consists of a series of deposits containing copper, gold, and silver. The deposits stretch over 12 kilometers, from the Hugo Dummett North Zone in the north through the adjacent Hugo Dummett South Zone, down to the Oyut Deposit, extending to the Heruga Deposit in the south. It is one of the best copper-gold ore bodies in the world.

It consist of both Open pit and underground operations.

The open pit accesses the Southern Oyu deposit, one of three deposits discovered at Oyu Tolgoi. The first ore from Oyu Tolgoi was mined at the open pit in April 2012

The Oyu Tolgoi underground project (Underground Project) is a significant development project aiming to access and mine the high-grade orebody at the upper lift of Hugo North.

The depth and fragmented nature of the ore bodies make them well suited both geotechnically and economically to the block caving method of mining.

The Underground Project involves sinking a total of 6.1 kilometres across five shafts and mining 203 kilometres of tunnel at a depth of 1.3 kilometres underground. Other supporting infrastructure includes crushing and materials handling and surface facilities.
