Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (Agronomists and Veterinarians without borders) is an
international solidarity association working for rural development by supporting family farming in
disadvantaged part of the world with the help of experts in farming and animal health. It also contributes to lobby-ing actions in both the North and South, in support of such farming practices.
AVSF considers that farmers organisations are key players in the sustainable management of rural resources, economic development, food security and sovereignty in countries of the South. Beyond supplying markets, they provide employment, enhance biodiversity and encourage greater participation of farmers to local democracy.
Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières was created in 2004 when two professional rural development coop-eration associations merged. These were the International Centre for Cooperation for Rural Development (CICDA) and Veterinarians without borders (VSF).
